Last year, February 2011, I had gone to a school trip for a week an a half to Paris, France. It was without a doubt one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had in my life.
While I was there, I was required to keep a sketchbook to chronicle my sights and seeings. I documented a lot of art that I saw. There is WAY too much art there it’s amazing.
Particularly at one of the modern museums I had visited (Musée d’Orsay), had an amazing exhibition of one of my favorite cartoonist illustrators Daumier. (Look him up HERE)
What had happened while I was at the exhibit, I had realized that photography was not allowed and this distressed me so. There was the most amazing sculptures Daumier had done back in the hey day of France.
There was no way I could take a photo without getting caught since security was way high in the particular room, not to mention that the museum was going to close in 45 minutes.
There was 27 different sculptures on display that were dying to be observed for a cartoonist fanatic like myself.
So what did I do?
I decided with my swift hand and gestural as hell speedball ink pen to draw EVERY SINGLE ONE of them.
Guess what?
I did it.
